Hika Bay (Cleveland), approximately 12 miles north of the
Sheboygan River entrance. A parking lot and a place to launch/land, and a
tavern within easy walking distance--doesn't get much better than this.
There's a launching fee of $4.00, payable at the site.
Fischer Creek State Recreation Area (north of Cleveland),
approximately 1.5 miles north of Hika Bay--beach at the foot of a high
bluff. No take-out/put-in access, but a place to stop if you need to
before continuing on. Additional
information.
Silver Creek
(Manitowoc), approximately 9.5 miles north of Fischer Creek. Silver Creek is a city park, with a nice beach, picnic
areas, and restrooms. Long haul to carry boats, but can be done.
Red Arrow Park (Manitowoc), approximately 1.5 miles north of
Silver Creek. Excellent access on the north end of the beach--can actually
drive right down to the beach to load/unload the boats (enter from 9th and Green
Streets, just south of the Kennedy PhyEd building). Building at the
top of the hill has restrooms and drinking fountains.
Lakeview Park (Manitowoc), just
north of the breakwall and the marina, just south of the yacht club.
Parking available, but that's about it.
Seagull
Marina, adjacent to and on the south side of the Two
Rivers breakwall there's a nice beach for landing and camping (see photo above). This is a
real gem! Hot showers, nice quiet beach camping, easy access if you are
putting in or taking out, plenty of places to eat nearby. Every town on
the Lake should be graced with such a place. See below for contact
information.
Neshotah Beach
(Two Rivers), just north of the entrance to Two
Rivers, clean sandy beach, restrooms, concession stand (seasonal). Lots of
parking and easy access to the water.
Point Beach State
Forest, approximately 6 miles north of
Neshotah Beach. Six miles of sandy beach, beautiful lighthouse (one
launching/landing site is right there). Point Beach, is literally a point
jutting out into Lake Michigan. Additional information. Additional
information.
Two
Creeks, approximately 7 miles north of Point Beach State
Forest. Take Two Creeks Road east off of 42. Parking, pit toilets,
and a picnic shelter available.
General
Information
The shoreline is not very rugged and with the exception of
the Fisher Creek area, there aren't a lot of bluffs. There
are plenty of places to stop along this stretch to get out
of your kayak and move around, have lunch or a snack, or to
just rest a bit before moving on.
On the north end of Manitowoc County is the Point Beach
Nuclear Power Plant--note its location as you will need to
stay well clear of it (meaning "outside the established
security zone").
